Taking a look at my kitchen trash / recycling, it seems like the majority of the trash is food waste, then the rest is some cardboard and soiled paper goods / wrappers.
I think I could have improved the quality of my data by sorting and weighing the trash out into groups. I could not sort/weight the trash in a feasible location as it would have soiled my carpets/floors and I live in an apartment.
After looking at the data, I am clearly missing a great opportunity to compost food waste. I'm going to ask my parents whether composting is an option in our area and try to make sure food waste gets composted.
Breakdown:
Trash -
70% food waste
20% paper / wrappers
10% cardboard
Recycling -
100% plastic
