1. My roommate and I have been talking about purchasing a console, or an entry way table.
a. This is simply a table that would add to the interior design of the apartment as well as be a great spot to keep drinks.
b. Today in class we learned about a company that used old pallets to build personalized furniture. Refurbishing old materials is an excellent way to make this product more sustainable.
c. Adaption for circularity is the design principle used here. Once a pallet has finished its use, repurposing it is an excellent example of circularity.
d. Repurposing material is much cheaper than purchasing new raw material, this is a big economic benefit. This also prevents the wood and nails from being disposed of which provided environmental benefit.
e. A waste to wealth business model can be adopted here instead of a linear one. Taking another person’s garbage and turning it into a great table for my roommate and I would be greatly beneficial.
f. This would be part of the technical cycle of the butterfly diagram. There are no biological elements being restored, only remanufacturing.
