The next big thing in sustainable product design has to be materials that can be disassembled and reassembled. Given that perfectly usable plastics and textiles get disposed of in bulk every day, the existence of novel treatment techniques will let us turn these materials back into their original forms and let us create different a different product every time a product has lived its utility. Not only will this help reduce stress on material extraction and disposal zones, but also it will lay the foundation of the waste-to-wealth economy.
